EUGENE "GENE" POLACEK Of Ft. Myers, FL, formerly of East Pittsburgh, age 76, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 30, 2020. Gene was a great husband, father, and friend. Born on May 28, 1943, in North Braddock, he was the son of the late George Polacek and late Mary Pluebell. Beloved husband of 56 years to Vicki (Morenzi) Polacek and loving father of Rob (Shannon) Polacek of Plum and Brad (Ashlee) Polacek of Fort Myers. He was a wonderful grandfather to Nathan, Riley, and Kaden; brother of Bill (Adrian) Polacek, Ron (Maureen) Polacek, and Jim (Sue) Polacek. He is survived by many special nieces and nephews. Gene retired from Westinghouse Research and Development Center in Churchill as a plumber with 24 years of service. He then moved to Florida to work as a plumber for a commercial plumbing company and the Holiday Inn on Sanibel Island. Gene retired to spend time golfing and to be with family and friends. Gene served in the Navy on the USS Essex (CV-9) Carrier. He was a member of the East Pittsburgh Fire Department and the East Pittsburgh VFW Post 5008. As a sideline, Gene was also a master at changing out transmissions in front of his house. He was very loved and will be unbelievably missed. May he rest in peace.
